Prep Week
Hi Pen Sunday readers, I hope you all are having a wonderful Sunday night. This newsletter, Pen Sunday edition #73, is more of an update and announcement than the proper structure of the ones you’re used to. But don’t worry, Pen Sunday isn’t going anywhere. I felt that it was a good Sunday to take a quick timeout and brief you all on what I’ve been up to over the last 3 months.
Rob Rabbit — Short Film
The reason this Sunday was a good Sunday for this timeout, is because this upcoming week I’ll be directing a short film that I wrote called Rob Rabbit.
It’s about a 21-year-old girl named Ruby, who unknowingly puts herself and her younger autistic sister in danger when she tries to help a stranger named Rob.
This will be the second project I’ve directed after my 2022 web series Going Green. We’re shooting in Arizona.
Uncredited — Podcast
Uncredited is a podcast about uncredited writers, actors, and creatives in the entertainment industry.
I’m at the beginning of season 2 and have been thinking a lot about what type of show I want to have. Creativity is a lot about asking yourself questions and answering them over and over again.
Pen Sunday - Newsletter
If you’re reading this and don’t know what it is, and you’re feeling lost, afraid, and confused, it will be okay. You’re reading the Pen Sunday newsletter. Written by me, Solomon Lovejoy.
Similar to the podcast, I am always asking myself questions about how to make the newsletter better. Over the next few editions, you’ll see a few new sections and a removal of a couple too.
Edition #47, Along the Nicaraguan Countryside is probably a top 3 edition of all time if you haven’t read it yet or wanted a good place to start.
Life Update — What to say?
I turned 26 over a month ago. It’s rare that I find time to write to myself. I spend a lot of time thinking about projects I’m working on. There’s always something that needs to be done.
Recently, I was reminded that life is long and 26 is young. I’ve decided feature writing over TV writing as a path for me. That ordering a bagel and charging $2 for cream cheese instead of including it for free should be illegal, and that the this era of women’s college basketball will go down as the most important and influential ever for lovers of the game.
To close, I’ll try to write to you all like this a little more often than I have.
Sunday Songs
A week of underground rap + Kendrick Lamar
Sunday Poll
You only have one week to vote. Results will be reviewed and discussed in next week’s edition.
PS
It’s the end of Pen Sunday, edition #73. If you reached the end, thank you for reading. It means a lot.
Pen Sunday is a newsletter about a writer, a dream, and a studio. With headlines from around the world, music, and maybe a poem. Every Sunday and Sunday only.
Until Sunday,
Solomon Lovejoy
